Facebook recently announced it would no longer honor do not track requests set from browsers, which (in my opinion) sucks bigtime. Facebook wants to use your travels across the web to customize\/target ads displayed in your timeline. If it doesn\u2019t bother you, that\u2019s fine. Continue allowing Facebook (and others) to stalk you. Personally, I object to this. But it\u2019s your decision. <\/p>\n
For whatever reason, Robert Scoble (self proclaimed geek gasbag) decided to single me out as he posted a piece on being tired of Privacy Advocates<\/a>. He preceded tagging me by \u201cliking\u201d one of my other posts. He probably randomly looked for someone to target and picked me. It doesn\u2019t bother me and I won\u2019t unfriend him, but I unfollowed and ignored him some time ago. If ads improve the quality of HIS life, fine. Can\u2019t be much of a life. I know a few people still consider him a rock star. That\u2019s another opinion, and if it\u2019s yours, you are entitled to it. That\u2019s what makes the world go around. <\/p>\n I\u2019m sure you can think of tons of reasons not to share your browsing\/shopping habits with Facebook and other companies, or maybe you don\u2019t care. Which ever bucket you fall into, it\u2019s YOUR decision. <\/p>\n Just remember that if you elect to use the opt out, you can opt out of ALL \u201cmember\u201d companies. Scroll to the bottom of the page and select Choose All Companies. Do this for every browser on your system.
