Replace and strike any key when ready.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin: 0in 0in 0pt 0.5in;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><b><span style=\"font-family: Verdana, sans-serif; font-size: 10pt;\">NOTE:<\/span><\/b><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-left: 0.5in;\"><span style=\"font-family: Verdana, sans-serif; color: #000000; font-size: 10pt;\">If this error has already occurred and you cannot access the data on your hard drive, <a style=\"color: #000000;\" href=\"http:\/\/welcome.hp.com\/country\/us\/en\/wwcontact_us.html\"><u><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman;\">contact HP for service<\/span><\/u><\/a>. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Verdana, sans-serif; color: #000000; font-size: 10pt;\">To <b>prevent<\/b> this error from occurring, upgrade the firmware for the hard disk drive using the following steps.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin: 0in 0in 0pt 0.5in;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><b><span style=\"font-family: Verdana, sans-serif; font-size: 10pt;\">NOTE:<\/span><\/b><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-left: 0.5in;\"><span style=\"font-family: Verdana, sans-serif; color: #000000; font-size: 10pt;\">It is highly recommended that you create a system backup before performing this update. <\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-indent: -0.25in; margin-left: 0.5in; mso-list: l0 level1 lfo1; tab-stops: list .5in;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"font-family: Verdana, sans-serif; font-size: 10pt;\"><span style=\"mso-list: ignore;\">1.<span style=\"font: 7pt 'Times New Roman';\">&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; <\/span><\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-family: Verdana, sans-serif; font-size: 10pt;\">Download the <a style=\"color: #000000;\" href=\"ftp:\/\/ftp.hp.com\/pub\/softlib\/software10\/COL27451\/pv-68339-1\/sp40966.exe\"><u><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman;\">Seagate SATA Hard Disk Drive Firmware Update (sp40966)<\/span><\/u><\/a>. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-indent: -0.25in; margin-left: 0.5in; mso-list: l0 level1 lfo1; tab-stops: list .5in;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"font-family: Verdana, sans-serif; font-size: 10pt;\"><span style=\"mso-list: ignore;\">2.<span style=\"font: 7pt 'Times New Roman';\">&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; <\/span><\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-family: Verdana, sans-serif; font-size: 10pt;\">After the file is saved on the hard drive, double-click the icon for the update. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-left: 0.5in;\"><span style=\"font-family: Verdana, sans-serif; color: #000000; font-size: 10pt;\">The Firmware Update window opens. <\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-indent: -0.25in; margin-left: 0.5in; mso-list: l0 level1 lfo1; tab-stops: list .5in;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"font-family: Verdana, sans-serif; font-size: 10pt;\"><span style=\"mso-list: ignore;\">3.<span style=\"font: 7pt 'Times New Roman';\">&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; <\/span><\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-family: Verdana, sans-serif; font-size: 10pt;\">Insert a blank CD in the CD\/DVD drive and select <b>Create Bootable CD<\/b>. Do not remove the CD from the drive. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-indent: -0.25in; margin-left: 0.5in; mso-list: l0 level1 lfo1; tab-stops: list .5in;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"font-family: Verdana, sans-serif; font-size: 10pt;\"><span style=\"mso-list: ignore;\">5.<span style=\"font: 7pt 'Times New Roman';\">&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; <\/span><\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-family: Verdana, sans-serif; font-size: 10pt;\">After the disc has been created, the drive door opens and closes. If your computer has a slot drive you will need to manually insert the disc into the drive. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-left: 0.5in;\"><span style=\"font-family: Verdana, sans-serif; color: #000000; font-size: 10pt;\">After the disc is inserted, a Firmware Update window opens.
