You many have heard of Wannacrypt. There\u2019s a new variant out now. Even if you haven\u2019t heard of this ransomware malware, please turn off SMB1 on your Windows computers. The following is for Windows 10 and Windows 8.1\/8. It is very easy to do (note &#8211; click or tap on an image to show larger version):<\/p>\n<p>1. Type the words <strong>control panel<\/strong> in the Cortana\/Search box lower left. Control Panel will appear at the top. Wait for a few second and a Window will display with a list. Find <strong>SMB 1.0\/CIFS File Sharing Support<\/strong> and <strong>UN<\/strong>check it and then select OK.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/digitalmediaphile.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/06\/smb1-1.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"margin: 10px; border: 0px currentcolor; display: inline; background-image: none;\" title=\"smb1\" src=\"https:\/\/digitalmediaphile.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/06\/smb1_thumb.png\" alt=\"smb1\" width=\"351\" height=\"307\" border=\"0\"\/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>5. Wait a minute or so while Windows applies the setting. You will be prompted to restart your computer.<\/p>\n<p>6. Restart your computer<\/p>\n<p>That\u2019s it.
